Here is a Article by MIKE McILHERAN
I was luck enough to get a doodlebug project machine in. I traded a Harley Davidson Side car frame for it! The Side Car frame was one of two found in the weeds at a property my dad purchased. One was a 1934 and one was a 1936 I believe. The frames were to be scraped until I realized what they were. Vern Wickman had a Harley Dealership in my town in the old days of Manitowoc ,WI and the property was owned by him at one time.
The doodle bug had a Clinton engine or the Briggs and Stratton NP and mine has the NP that with a little clean up started and ran like a real champ There is something special about the vintage Briggs and Stratton engines. Design or good metal not 100 percent sure why but they just work good!
